FAQ

Common questions.

Who is eligible to apply?

Qualifying organizations registered in the United States, United Kingdom, or United Arab Emirates. We welcome for-profit companies, non-profits, charities, cultural institutions, museums, and educational organizations. Commercial applicants are typically established (around $5M+ in annual revenue, 50+ employees, 2+ years of operation). Non-profit, cultural, and educational organizations are not held to those revenue or headcount thresholds — we look instead for a named executive sponsor and the operational capacity to participate in the sprint and the Showcase. Full eligibility is in the Official Rules.

What does "merit-based" actually mean?

One winner is selected per cycle by Rock Paper Reality based on documented evaluation criteria — business case, fit for the Samsung Galaxy XR and Android XR platform, AI/Gemini use case relevance, feasibility within scope, organizational readiness, commercial potential, and where applicable, cultural or societal impact. Not a sweepstakes, lottery, or random drawing. No element of chance.

What does "no cash award" mean?

The $100,000 figure is the notional value of RPR professional services time delivered to the winner — roughly 500 hours of design, development, and production work from our team. No cash is transferred. The selected participant also receives one Samsung Galaxy XR headset. That's it.

Who owns the IP?

You own the pilot we build for you. The code, designs, and creative work product are yours when we deliver them — yours to deploy commercially, expand, modify, or hand to a different vendor down the road. Your pre-existing content, brand assets, data, and trademarks also stay yours. In return, we keep a perpetual royalty-free license to use the pilot (and a sanitized version of it, with confidential parts removed) in our marketing and case studies, and to reuse our own underlying tools and frameworks in future work. Anything you mark as confidential stays out of our marketing materials. Full IP terms are in Section 8 of the Rules.

What happens after the pilot?

Two things. First, the pilot is presented to your leadership team at the end of the sprint to unlock further investment internally. Second, for 18 months after the Showcase, you give RPR a reasonable opportunity to discuss any expansion, productionization, or related XR work before awarding it to a third party. You're not obligated to award the work to RPR — just to give us a fair conversation. See Section 11.

What is the Showcase?

A live event in early September 2026 where the selected pilot is presented to Samsung, Qualcomm, Google, and invited industry guests. Participation in the Showcase is a condition of selection. Photo and video may be captured under standard event releases.

How is my application data used?

Your application is shared with Samsung Electronics and approved Program Partners for evaluation, partner marketing, and XR business development. Consent to this sharing is required to apply. Details are on the Partner Data Sharing page; broader privacy practices are in the RPR Privacy Notice.

When are applications due?

June 28, 2026 at 11:59 PM Pacific Time. Selection notifications go out by mid-July; the pilot sprint runs July–August; the Showcase is early September.
